“whoomp there it is”

I’ve been tagged thanks to Gaizabonts (who’s blog I cannot get enough of at the moment… and not only because the thinking I do after reading it keeps me entertained for hours).

The rules of this tag are that you have to write nine things about yourself, one of which is a lie. So if you get this tag passed on to yourself, you know what you have to do!

If i’m honest this is actually the second re-write of this post I have attempted today… the previous two were far too long winded, and the subjects covered worthy of their own full posts, ranging from scar tissue to my own Christian name, which i’m sure I WILL cover again in the future on here. So i’ve finally chosen 9 and decided to keep each one quite light hearted, fairly short and to the point, instead of offering in-depth explanations on them.

I tried to come up with a song line to name this post by containing the word “tag” but the only ones I could find would have caused offence, I think (”tag-team bitch” courtesy of Dr. Dre containing racist and sexist slurs… the only other being by Aaron Carter, who is just offensive to music generally)… the one i’ve decided on is a little tenuous, but it made me smile :)

Here goes…

1) I love horror films… being scared out of my wits is one of my greatest guilty pleasures. There is nothing that comes close to the adrenaline rush of being so completely and utterly terrified that nothing else is in your mind. I would probably orgasm and die of fright at the same time if I was to see a ghost. At least i’d go happy though!

2) I’m scared of death. It keeps me awake at night, sometimes, worrying about the whole process, and what there is (if anything) afterwards. Will it hurt, am I going to be judged, will people miss me, will I be aware of them missing me, is there an afterlife, or is it just nothing?

3) I cannot abide mushrooms. They are just the worst food I have ever tasted, and I have tried regularly to give them another go to see if my tastes have changed as i’ve gotten older. Each time they just offend me to the core. Horrible things.

4) Words used out of context irritates me. Reality shows are the worst for this, referring to people’s “emotional journey,” or people saying that “I want it so bad.” Want what?! I’ve heard food critics annoyingly describing a strange food combination as “them working.” Don’t get me started on the people who actually describe themselves as being “random.” They’re usually lonely and boring.

5) Spiders terrify me, and I really cannot offer explanation as to why. No matter how hard I try to reason with myself that it’s completely irrational, and no matter how hard I try to grasp the dirty bastards in my hand when one scurries across the room, I just cannot do it. I regress to an infant at the sight of one.

6) My favourite animals are penguins. I went to Barcelona Zoo a few months ago and practically elbowed children in the face to push them out of the way so I could get near enough to one to stroke it. I didn’t manage to, but took great satisfaction in seeing it bite the child who wouldn’t get out of my way.

7) Music rather than lyrics affect me more emotionally when listening to songs. I try to write lyrics, but until I learn to write music, i’ll never be satisfied with what I write as I feel it has no real emotional depth.

8 ) Tomatoes are the greatest food on earth. Delicious red, green and yellow balls of sweet juice and flavour. I eat far too many to be considered healthy at times. Any shape and size will do. Just the more the better.

9) I get terrified of saying my full first name in public. I have a slight impediment whereby my “r” sounds like a “w” at times… “ferry” sounds like “fewwy,” and I won’t even attempt “River Ribble” in company. I just dread introducing myself to someone who forever more knows me as “Andwew.”

So which is the lie?!?

Unlike what I do with chain e-mails, I’m going to pass this on… to Gav, who needs to post more because he’s so hot and interesting… to Brechi, who’s also hot and interesting (how shallow am I?!), and to Mark Alan who may or may not be hot, but who’s blog I find very entertaining.

  1. i spent significant time scrolling between 1 and 2, significant time. But I am going to go with 7. That’s your lie? :D

  2. [...] like 2 or 3 months now, I wonder how long I will be able to get away with this excuse) some bloke Andrew thought it would be funny to tag the new guy.  Here is the thing, the tag is to say 9 things [...]

  3. If I was to choose one as the false story it would be loving penguins. While being an interesting creature, penguins are not that exciting of an animal that small, innocent children would live in fear that you may be nearby and possibly injure them should they get too close.

  4. hmmm..long time no post – eager to know the lie :)

  5. gaizabonts/markalan – apologies for the lack of replies… the answer will be revealed next post… assuming people are still interested!
